How it works
Nothing here is a surprise later.
Five steps from the first email to the last cushion, four named stages inside them, and four things that actually arrive. This page says which parts are yours, which parts are mine, and roughly when each one happens.
The whole thing, in order
Five steps, in this order.
You pick a service and a room, we talk, I design, you get a shopping list, and then we speak once more when the furniture has landed.
Step one is the only decision you have to make on your own — and the free 15-minute call exists so that you do not have to make that one on your own either.
- Select a service and room Or take the free call first and decide afterwards.
- Discovery call and virtual consultation What the room is for, what is in it already, and what is bothering you.
- Virtual design review sessions within 2 weeks The plans are emailed beforehand, so you have read them before we talk.
- Detailed shopping lists after design finalisation Manufacturer, quantity, price, dimensions and a link, for every item.
- Follow-up session for design implementation A call while you are actually placing the furniture and the decor.
The four stages of an e-design
Questionnaire, design prep, design, final plan.
Two of them are mostly you and two are mostly me. Each one below says which.
Stage 01
Questionnaire
I send you a client questionnaire to gather information about your project requirements, design goals and what you envision for your space.
Mostly meStage 02
Design prep
You take measurements and photographs of your space for me to use during the design phase. A phone camera and a tape measure are the whole toolkit.
Mostly youStage 03
Design
I create space plans, design and colour concepts, and furniture and finish selections that fit the functional and aesthetic needs of your space.
Mostly meStage 04
Final plan
I organise all the design ideas, tools and tips into a comprehensive e-design plan that serves as a do-it-yourself guide to implementing the design yourself.
Mostly meWhat you receive
Four things, each with a date attached to it.
Not a mood board and good luck. Each of these is a thing you can open, read, take shopping, or get on a call about.
-
01
Mood board
Created from your questionnaire answers, with inspiration photos, after our initial meeting. It organises the project's inspiration, keeps the style consistent with what you actually said you wanted, and refines the direction before the design begins. Settling this first is what stops a project drifting later.
After the first call -
02
Space plan and design plan
Within two weeks of the initial consultation call we get on a video or phone call to review the design plan, the inspiration photos, the furnishing selections, paint colours, accessories and lighting. The plans are sent by email beforehand, so you have had time to look at them rather than reacting on the spot. One round of revisions is included.
Within 2 weeks of the first call -
03
Furniture selections and shopping list
Sent within two weeks of the plans being finalised. It lists the manufacturer, quantity, price, dimensions and a description of every product, with direct links to trusted vendors. Selections are things you can buy online or from stores in your local area — so a piece that is out of stock is a piece you can stand in front of and replace, not a dead end.
Within 2 weeks of the plans being finalised -
04
Design execution
Once you have bought the furniture, a post-design conference call to help as you place the decor and style the coffee table, and to answer anything left over. This is the part most people find hardest, and it is the part that gets skipped when a plan arrives as a PDF and nothing else.
Once the furniture has landed
The same four things, as files
This is what a finished plan looks like.
A digital board, a board with the notes still on it, and a render of the room. Between them they are the proof that the deliverable is a real document and not a promise.
What we need from you
You do the hands-on half. That is the deal.
E-design is affordable because the work is split rather than shrunk. Nobody drives to your house to hold a tape measure, and nobody bills you for the drive.
Measurements, photographs, and the buying
At the design prep stage you take measurements and photographs of your space for me to work from. Later you place the orders from the shopping list, take the deliveries, and hang the art. A phone camera and a tape measure are the whole toolkit.
The plans, the selections, the list
I make the space plans, the design and colour concepts, and the furniture and finish selections, then hand them over as one plan with a shopping list you can act on at your own pace — and stay on the phone for the part where the decor goes down.
If you would rather someone stood in the room with you, that is the in-person service — two hours, CAD 300 per room, London Ontario only.
No charge, no pitch
Not sure which step you are on? Start with the free fifteen.
Bring one photo of the room and the thing about it that has been bothering you, and I will tell you honestly whether e-design is the right thing for it.
